The National & International Scholarships and Fellowships office is hosting information sessions for four competitive scholarships in fall semester. Please see the flyer at nisf.unm.edu/2010FallInfoSessions.pdf.
Harry Truman Scholarship <award covers graduate studies>- for junior students who would like to work for government, public services, & non-profit organizations
Merage American Dream Fellows Scholarship <award covers for graduate studies> - only for immigrant students in any majors, for graduate study
Barry Goldwater Scholarship <award covers junior and/or senior year(s)> - for sophomore/junior students in natural sciences, technology, engineering, & math areas, with strong research experiences
Udall Scholarship <award covers junior and/or senior year(s)> - for sophomore, junior students, the award will cover junior and/or senior year(s), need to meet one of three categories: (1) any students who are interested in Environmental Science, (2) Native Americans who are interested in tribal policy, and (3) Native Americans who are pursuing career in native health
These competitive scholarships share the common criteria; Academic Excellence (GPA 3.5 +), Research Experience, Leadership Skills, & Community Service Experience. Please encourage students to attend the information sessions even though they are not eligible to apply this year. I would like them to know what they can do to become a competitive candidate.
