Welcome Back Days Begins Aug. 20thFree food, live entertainment and a host of great information will be available beginning Friday, Aug. 20 as part of UNM’s Welcome Back Days celebration. The weeklong annual tradition welcoming students back to campus runs through Friday, Aug. 27. It all begins with the 5th annual Friday Night Live event at 8 p.m. in the Student Union Building. The entire building will be full of great events including New Mexico’s own Vanilla Pop, who will be performing all the best dance hits in their own “groovy” style live in the Atrium. There will also be a photo booth, casino games, henna tattoos, karaoke, salsa dance lessons, video games on projection screens (including a Wii, Guitar Hero and DDR), Lobo sports teams, a dance and a variety of free food including pizza, desserts, finger foods, candy popcorn, Pepsi products and more. During the week free food is served beginning at 12 noon until it is gone. The Welcome Back Days schedule includes the President’s Ice Cream Social on Monday, watermelon on Tuesday, green chile stew on Wednesday, pizza on Thursday and hot dogs on Friday. Stop by from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the information booths and to take part in this great UNM tradition.
