UNM Choral Program Advertised in the New York Times February 22, 2012 | By Carolyn Gonzales
UNM Choral Director Brad Ellingboe and a cadre of singers are headed to New York’s Lincoln Center to sing René Clausen’s Requiem x 2, his epic choral concert performed in nine movements, on Sunday March 18, at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale and being advertised in the New York Times.
The piece was commissioned to celebrate the 100th anniversary of choral singing at the University of New Mexico. The program will also include a performance of Mozart’s enigmatic masterpiece, Requiem, highlighting the vocal brilliance of award-winning mezzo-soprano Holly Sorenson and the symphonic direction of conductor laureate Vance George, who will lead Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Singers International.
