Hello- I’m attaching a PDF of the crew call that we are putting out. I can also direct you to the Facebook page and the website. Here’s a quick synopsis of the film, titled I AM THAT: Sister Skylar has been living in a cloistered monastery in Roswell, NM for the last 15 years. When her little sister is diagnosed with a terminal illness, she chooses to remain in prayer rather than visit Cara's bedside. When Cara dies, Skylar regrets her decision and begins to question the choices she has made. She leaves the convent and begins a pilgrimage in the hopes that it will help her find renewed passion. Along the way she is befriended by a runaway boy and a train hopping hobo with their own reasons for traveling north. The style is very much inspired by magical realism, and the local landscape of the desert southwest. Rather than rely on existing religious symbolism, we are attempting to create something new in order to explore the Idea of vocation, faith and sacrifice as it pertains specifically to art and artists. Also the nuns are salmon colored, there’s an ogre under the bed and the kid is in a homemade samurai outfit. I am the Production Designer for this film. The Director, Joy Marzec, and I, both have worked together on many projects. In fact, we met doing a production of Peter Pan in Seattle nearly ten years ago. One of the hallmarks of our collaborative style is that we are tactile oriented- rather than CG our way thru a magical scene we almost always opt for the more theatrical approach. Call it old school, or just call it Henson-esque; it is one reason that I am actively reaching out to the community for people who are interested in this style of filmmaking. In terms of pay, I don’t have a lot of money but there may be some compensation, depending on skill set and availability. We are able to provide transportation and food for everyone, but some of the PA positions would have to be unpaid. I would encourage anyone to apply, especially since many of the positions would not be needed for the entire shooting or preproduction schedule. Please share with anyone who might be interested! My name is Melvatha Chee. I am UNM student and a member of the Student Veterans of UNM organization on campus.
I am contacting your department because we are looking for some help with making a short video about our annual student veteran retreat to promote the program and recruit participants.
I think we are able to provide a small one time stipend. We are looking to see if a student might be interested in helping us, perhaps for a summer project.
If students are interested, they should contact Peggy Spencer at pspencer@unm.edu.

Read about one of the coolest summer PAID internships! It is the Frank & Peggy Steele Internship program with the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. baseballhall.org/education/internship-program Megan Eding is an alum of this internship (Summer 2010) and was one of the Museum Collections interns who got to work in the museum’s storage collection. She wrote, "I got to work with so much AWESOME baseball history!!! Hands down, this internship changed my life (for the better)!" "One of about a million pictures I took that summer: me handling a Babe Ruth game-worn jersey!" Please link to baseballhall.org/education/internship-program This is ideal for students who work with Communications, History, Marketing, Management, Computer Science, and IFDM students. This internship is interdisciplinary, so it certainly isn’t limited to those majors. The internship is paid and the program also organizes the interns’ housing for the summer. For travel/housing expenses, the program offers the Ozzie Smith Diversity Scholarship (http://baseballhall.org/education/internship-faq). Application deadline is January 31, 2016.

Looking for cast and crew for an international student short film, shooting sometime between the end of November and middle of December in Albuquerque! About the director: My name is Fanni Katona. I'm a Cinematic Arts exchange student at UNM this semester, coming from Hungary. As the final project for my undergraduate degree, I'm making a short film in Albuquerque, and am looking for people interested in filling the cast and crew positions mentioned below, and also anyone who wishes to help out in any other way. Plot: The short film will be dealing with the death of a grandparent and how the main character processes that while living far away from their family at university. The whole story's about a day or two long, but the screenplay is in the works at the moment. Looking for Crew: - cinematographer (ideally good with hand-held camera/steady-cam) - boom operator (and basically anyone good with sound recording) - screenwriter - script supervisor - casting director - lighting technicians - hair and make-up + musicians with original music for the soundtrack (any kind welcome) Cast: - main character: girl in her early twenties (ideally foreign student, but ability to act is more important) - about 5-10 supporting characters: university students I cannot offer anyone pay for their work as this is a student film! If interested, please contact me via e-mail: fannii.katona@gmail.com or fkatona@unm.edu
