Land Arts of the American West (LAAW) is an interdisciplinary, field-based, Art & Ecology program for students at the University of New Mexico.
Fall Semester 2019 Full-time: 12 CR Undergraduate // 9 CR Graduate
As a collective, LAAW travels for up to six weeks exploring the ecology of place within the American Southwest. The rest of the semester is spent in intensive creative workshopping, in studio process, and in preparation for a public event/exhibition/performance. Students model a professional creative practice through highly independent, student-centered research, field investigation, creative production, and final presentation/dissemination. As a group, LAAW students also collaborate on several bioregional Art & Ecology projects with local communities.

LAND ARTS OF THE AMERICAN WEST DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR!
Land Arts of the American West, with support from Lannan Foundation, is offering up to $4,500 in scholarship funding to support undergraduate students of color and underrepresented minorities enrolling in Fall 2019 Land Arts of the American West program. The scholarship is open to students across all colleges at UNM, but students must be enrolling and participating in Fall 2019 Land Arts of the American West program. The scholarship will be issued for Fall 2019.
To apply for a LAAW diversity scholarship, please send a brief personal statement and letter of interest along with your application materials.
