PHOTO FRIDAYS
AN INTIMATE GLIMPSE INSIDE THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTION
Look Me Straight in the Eye : Photos that Shape History
led by Kymberly Pinder, Dean of the College of Fine Arts, UNM
Friday, July 14, 5:30 PM | FREE - REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
Join UNM Art Museum and invited scholars, artists, and community members on select Fridays throughout the summer for an intimate glimpse inside the Museum’s collection. Taking inspiration from PhotoSummer 2017’s theme of Photography as Activism, Action, and Empowerment, speakers will highlight works that explore the historical place of photography in social movements, activism, and reform. Short 30-minute talks will take place in the Museum's Beaumont Newhall Study room, followed by a reception in the galleries. FREE, but space limited.
RSVP Traci Quinn, tmquinn@unm.edu.
About the Beaumont Newhall Study Room
The Beaumont Newhall Study Room provides visitors a unique opportunity to view works on paper, paintings, small sculptures, and decorative arts from the UNM Art Museum’s vast collection. This rich resource is unlike any other in the state of New Mexico and allows intimate and close-up access to our holdings. Through the "Photo Fridays," initiative participants will get a glimpse into the Museum's historical photography collection.
