Dear Friends and colleagues:
This month, the University of New Mexico will host an environmental justice public forum titled: “Decolonizing Nature,” which will include a four-day interdisciplinary conference convening in the National Hispanic Cultural Center (April 19-22); a two-week long companion art exhibition at 516 ARTS (April 15-29); a one-day film screening at the UNM Art Museum (April 18); and a community event, "Abrazos: A Community Celebration of Environmental Justice" at the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge, being organized by our conference partners, Friends of the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge and the Los Jardines Institute (Earth Day, April 22).
The conference program and registration information are now available on the conference website: decolonizingnature.unm.edu
The conference is free and open to the public but registration is required as space is limited to 300 seats only and seats are filling up quickly. You can register for one or more sessions that you find interesting.
To register CLICK HERE.
You can pick up a copy of the current issues of the Green Fire Times (http://greenfiretimes.com/green-fire-times-2017/) and THE Magazine (https://www.themagsantafe.com/) from Popejoy and other locations to see coverage of the project. Also check out an interview with Diné scientist Perry Charley (one of the conference speakers) on our public radio station KUNM (LISTEN HERE).
We hope to see you at the conference, at the film screening, and at the exhibition. And, please spread the word! Warmest regards, Subhankar Subhankar Banerjee Lannan Chair and professor of Art & Ecology Decolonizing Nature
