Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead By Bert V. Royal Directed by Rashaad Bond
Written by Bert V. Royal Jr., screenwriter of the 2010 film Easy A, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead is a cunning parody of Charles Schulz Peanuts characters. Through the eyes of Schulz, we were given a group of young, witty, and insightful children who watched generations grow up. Royal gives the audience the opportunity to watch as “CB” and the gang do the same. Because the show takes place right in the middle of the high school years we get to witness eight teens struggle with finding themselves in society. Bert V. Royal gives us the chance to revisit a point we’ve all been at, with a group of familiar faces. "Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion, and sexual identity collide and careen towards an ending that is both haunting and hopeful." Mature subject matter, parental discretion is strongly suggested.
