For those of you looking for a Contemporary World Music/Ethnomusicology course for the fall, or who are looking for upper division electives, Dr. Jacobsen-Bia is teaching MUS 438: Navajo Expressive Culture. This course was added after registration began so you may have missed it when you registered for classes. Here is a description of the course: This class examines the art (music, poetry, photography, dance, radio, filmmaking, comedy, weaving, fiction) and politics of contemporary Dine or Navajo peoples. Featuring weekly guest speakers, this course will be discussion-based. Readings will be drawn from ethnomusicology, anthropology and Native American Studies, and assignments will include weekly written responses and attendance at off-campus, community-based events. Questions? Email the professor at: kmj23@unm.edu.
