14th, 15th, & 16th : UNM Opera Theatre. Performances include selected scenes from various works and the World Premiere of Elisha and the Bears, a swift operetta, by UNM Music Department’s Chair and composer, Dr. Steven Block. Introducing the newest member of the vocal faculty and UNM’s first vocal coach, Dr. Kristen Ditlow, as conductor. Directed by Leslie Umphrey and Sam Shepperson. $15/10/5. 19th – 7:30pm: New Music New Mexico. Louis Andriessen at 75, presenting the music of Dutch Composer Louis Andriessen on the occasion of his 75th birthday, featuring music of Andriessen and his teacher Luciano Berio. Directed by David Felberg.
20th – 4:30pm: Dolce Suono. Directed by Regina Carlow.
20th – 7:30pm: THE MUSIC OF MORTEN LAURIDSEN: The University Chorus, Concert Choir and Las Cantantes sing the music of National Medal of Arts winner and the most performed living composer in America, Morten Lauridsen. Dr. Lauridsen will be in attendance, and help us celebrate the debut of the UNM Chamber Singers. $15/10/5.
