Theatre & Dance "Night and Day," a double bill of dance theatre pieces by influential playwright Charles L Mee, opens at Rodey Theatre in the Center for the Arts on Friday, April 25.The University of New Mexico Department of Theatre and Dance presents "Night and Day," a double bill of dance theatre pieces by influential playwright Charles L Mee, Friday-Saturday, April 25-26 and Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. in Rodey Theatre at the Center for the Arts. Two afternoon performances are also set for Sunday, April 27 and Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for faculty and senior citizens and $10 for all staff and students.
Using physical performance, music and a collage of texts, two classic tales are retold through a modern day lens, incorporating everything from philosophy to news stories to pop culture. Rehearsing these pieces has its set of challenges. Bill Walters, director, said, "It is a very demanding show for the performers. You can't do it without being in shape. It also requires great mental and emotional dexterity."
Tickets are available online at UNM Ticket Services or by calling (505) 925-5858 / 1-877-664-8661.
