Good afternoon,
The Albuquerque Film and Media Experience at Nob Hill (AFME) is the highly anticipated International film and art festival that is featuring our community in The Land of Enchantment. We have big dreams of seeing Albuquerque as a destination for creativity and productivity. We've already received participation from both Robert Redford and his wife Sibylle-Szaggars Redford, just to name a few, as well as filmmakers and collaborators from all over the world, including the UK and Israel. This is definitely something for all of us in Albuquerque to get excited about!
We are reaching out to you, our art leaders about this incredible opportunity for our students to have a chance to shine!
Please see the attached celebrity portrait contest that is taking place and will allow finalists to receive many prizes at the festival including a special mentoring lunch with famed painter, Michael Ostaski, www.artexplosion.us.
Details are below and attached.
We would like to extend the opportunity for our art-interested students in New Mexico to submit a celebrity portrait of their choice (various media, see site for requirements) that will be judged by an artist panel including celebrity performance speed painter Michael Ostaski who has painted Ashton Kutcher, Robert Redford and tons of others in live time throughout his career. Submissions are open to middle school, high school and undergrad students. We really think this is going to be a fun and memorable event for everyone in Albuquerque. We are extremely excited for the opportunity for 30 local student semi-finalists (10 in each category) to exhibit their submitted celebrity portraits at Popejoy Hall throughout the week of AFME (Jun 3 - Jun 9), gaining them tons of exposure during the Jersey Boys show (30,000 attendees) as this will be a week of buzz all the way down central from Downtown up to Nob Hill. The 3 finalists from each age category (middle school, high school, college) will win exhibition at Popejoy Hall, passes to the festival, a VIP lunch with Michael Ostaski, and a cash prize. This is our first year and we're really hoping to make a big impact on the community and we want artists at the helm of it, especially local ones! This is a multi-faceted event with tons of opportunity for exposure and mixing with all of the artists and filmmakers involved! We hope you'll join us!
For clarification this IS NOT a film submission. We are only taking submissions for portraits at this time. But keep your films in mind for next year!
Key Dates:
Submissions due: May 1st
Finalists Announced: May 15th
