The welcome will be given by Katarina Sandoval, Principal of South Valley Academy and recipient of the 2003 recipient of the Milken Educator Award.
Dr. Macias is currently the Chair of the Department of Applied Linguistics at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a faculty member and former chair of the Department of Chican@ Studies and the César E. Chávez Center for Interdisciplinary Instruction at UCLA. In 1996, President Clinton appointed Dr. Macias to the Advisory Board for the National Institute for Literacy
