"Recognizing New Mexico's Theatrical Past, Present & Future"
Saturday, 27 October 2012, 10am-530pm, Albuquerque NM
"Recognizing New Mexico's Theatrical Past, Present & Future" is a one-day, interactive symposium that will examine the complexity of New Mexico's theatrical history and also address techniques and strategies for insuring the archival preservation of that legacy for future generations.
A joint venture of the Albuquerque Theatre Guild <http://www.abqtheatre.org/> and the American Theatre Archive Project <http://americantheatrearchiveproject.org/>, the symposium invites theatre aficionados and practitioners to come together with archivists, librarians and researchers to recognize New Mexico's vibrant and unique theatrical pasts, presents, and futures.
Ken Cerniglia (Disney Theatricals) and Susan Brady (Yale/Beinecke Library) will be on hand to lead workshops addressing those archival practices especially relevant to performance related materials and I will deliver the morning's keynote, "400 Years of New Mexico Theatre History."
All events are free and open to the public. The symposium will take place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque.
Even/especially if you are unable to attend, I do hope you will help me to spread the word to those in your personal, professional and creative networks who might be inclined to join this important conversation. I have attached a pdf version of the press release to this message, and the text of the press release is pasted below.
Thanks so much and I hope to see you on October 27!
Sincerely,
Brian Herrera
