Biography: Meredith Tromble is an artist and writer whose areas of interest include creative process, interdisciplinary research, and group dynamics. Her participatory installations have been shown primarily in California, at venues including the Mills Museum to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Her art writing practice began as a regular artist commentator for KQED-FM in San Francisco, mostly for the live show that became Sedge Thomson's West Coast Live. In addition to fifteen years of broadcasting, she has authored hundreds of interviews, essays and commentaries for print and digital publications including Artweek, Aspect, and Leonardo and edited a book on the new media artist Lynn Hershman published by the University of California Press. From 2000 to 2010, she participated in the artist collective Stretcher, which publishes the Web magazine Stretcher.org and organizes performative art events. in addition to her work as an Associate Professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, she is currently writing Art & Shadows, a blog funded by the Art Writers Initiative of the Andy Warhol Foundation, and collaborating with geobiologist Dawn Sumner on a 3-D virtual installation.
