Hello Everyone,
Welcome back for the People Before Profit Film Series' 4th Semester at UNM!!! Our opening film for this semester is 'Salt of the Earth', a great film released in 1954 pitting zinc miners and their families against a large zinc mining corporation in Southern New Mexico. It particularly highlights feminist sociopolitical views along with the deep divide between anglo mine owners/workers and those of Mexican/Native heritage. The film is 94 minutes long.
As has become standard, the film will start at 7:00 PM in the UNM SUB (Student Union Building) Theater (Basement level). All students, faculty and members of the public are welcome to attend and it is FREE!!! There will be a post film discussion for those who are interested in sticking around.
This is a great opportunity for Faculty/TAs to assign extra credit to their students for attending/writing a report for classes that you teach with relevant topics.
The remainder of the film schedule is in the process of being finalized with this semester's intern: Patrick Poblete. If you are interested in showing a film or knowing more about the film series feel free to contact him at: ppoblete@unm.edu. Also for film series updates, go to our Facebook Page, People Before Profit Film Series, and 'like' us!
Hope to see many of you there!
