Don’t miss this chance to alert your alumni to an important career opportunity: the Smithsonian Craft Show, the nation’s most prestigious show and sale of fine craft, will be held in Washington, D.C. on April 24-28, 2013 at the National Building Museum. Our Call for Entries invites artists to apply in any of 12 media – basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, and wood – and an independent jury of nationally recognized experts will select the very best 120 craft artists to exhibit.
Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, artistic conception, and quality of their work. While the Smithsonian Women’s Committee takes no commissions on the artists’ work, we do charge exhibitor booth fees and admission to the public. Proceeds benefit the Smithsonian Institution, launching explorations, sparking discoveries, and broadening online and nationwide access to the Smithsonian's remarkable resources.
Many of our past exhibitors embarked on their careers through programs such as yours. We hope you will assist us in ensuring your alumni are well-represented in this year’s show. For more information, visit our website at www.SmithsonianCraftShow.org or join our email list. To arrange a private tour of the show for your alumni or students, contact Marie Canny at mcanny06@comcast.net.
We appreciate your efforts to publicize this information widely throughout your alumni and student community. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at AUSTRPR@si.edu.
Most sincerely,
