Exhibition Title: Gravure – The Chameleon of Printmaking – A Group Show
June 15 - July 28
Matrix Fine Art/New Grounds Gallery
3812 Central Ave., SE, 2 blocks east of Carlisle, S. side of Central
Photogravure is the perfect marriage of photography and printmaking. This show will highlight the amazing flexibility of the gravure print by featuring very traditional photographic images to those that look like lithographs and images with qualities of both.
Participating artists: Adabel Allen**, Aaron Bass, Mary Sundstrom, Jorge Tristani, Rob Thalmann, Denise Weaver-Ross and Jessica Weybright.
Route 66 Artscrawl Reception: June 15, 5 – 8:00 PM.
Demonstration: Aaron Bass will demonstrate the gravure process from 6:30 – 7 PM during the reception
** "Allen's work is frenzied and mysterious, but in a way that seems to perfectly capture and reflect the complex battleground of a poet's mind and heart. Her birds are messengers, flying home stories that are marked too deeply in love and pain to be nakedly exposed. Instead we must contemplate the delivery, and appreciate the beauty and courage that emerges from it." - Sam Adams, Alibi review. Allen's show "Emergence" was picked by Alibi as one of the best art shows of 2011.
