You are invited to attend the 2017 McNair/ROP Scholars Research Symposium. Please join our scholars for poster presentations highlighting their research projects from this past academic year. Details included below: When: Wednesday September 13, from 1:00-3:00pm Where: The Student Union Building Atrium (bottom floor of the SUB) Who’s Invited: Everyone! Event is free. What is the McNair/ROP Scholars Program? • Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Ed. at approx. 151 universities nationwide (McNair) and the New Mexico State Legislature (ROP) at the University of New Mexico • Prepares undergraduate college students for doctoral studies (Ph.D.) • Participants are either first-generation college students with financial need, or members of a group that is traditionally underrepresented in graduate education (or all the above) • McNair/ROP Students are exceptional students that are selected through a competitive application process • Students conduct faculty-mentored research • UNM’s McNair/ROP Scholars Program also has a STEM focus (More than 50% of participants) Purpose of Event: This poster symposium is an opportunity for current McNair/ROP scholars to present their faculty mentored research projects to the UNM community and network with faculty, students, and community members.
