The University of New Mexico turned up on U.S. News & World Report's newly released ranking of the nation’s best graduate schools rankings more than once. And this is a list that features Harvard, Yale and Stanford.
U.S. News surveyed more than 1,970 graduate programs and UNM was ranked in engineering, law, medicine and fine arts.

UNM's engineering program narrowly made the list that ranked the top 99 schools, scoring the No. 99 spot, which was tied with Louisiana State University- Baton Rouge and University of Oklahoma. UNM was analyzed for its GRE scores, acceptance rate and research expenditures among other things. Its research expenditures totaled $33 million in 2016, according to the report.

UNM's Law program fared better, however, at No. 77 out of 148. UNM tied with the University of Miami and University of San Diego and Villanova University. The report found 81.3 percent of people were employed 10 months after graduation and 51.8 percent were employed at the time of graduation. UNM's law school was also among the most diverse with a 36 percent Hispanic population.
UNM's Medicine program was in the top 20 colleges and universities for primary care. At No. 18, UNM's out-of-state tuition and fees were $48,852 and the school had an acceptance rate of 7.7 percent. UNM was also named for its work in rural medicine. Nurse-midwifery was another strong suit of UNM's. Ranked on directors and faculty, UNM made the top 10 schools for nurse-midwifery.
But it wasn't just the traditional fields like law and medicine that UNM was recognized for. The university's fine arts master's program was No. 48 out of 55; it was evaluated based rankings of the dean and department chairs. It also was recognized in the fine arts specialties sub-ranking for its photography program among Yale University and the School of Art Institution of Chicago.
New Mexico State University also made a list for education and was ranked No. 101. (NMSU tied with several schools for the 101 spot.)
According to Albuquerque Business First MBA Programs List, the average tuition per credit hour at MBA programs in the state is $680.
