 Info Regarding Bursar Holds
« Thread Started on Dec 2, 2011, 5:45pm »

Good Afternoon:

Since Spring 2012 registration is upon us, I would like to share some general information about Bursar holds and how our office works this time of year:

During the two weeks of Registration by Appointment Dates (11/28-12/09), we will not lift holds for students unless their past-due amount is paid in full. If a student pays their past-due balance online and would like the hold lifted immediately, please have them call (277-5363) or come by our office to lift the hold. Otherwise, the nightly "Application of Payments" process must run before the hold is automatically lifted.

Beginning December 12th, we will lift holds for students with a past-due balance of $200 or less. If a student gets their past-due below $200, they must contact our office to have the hold lifted. This is not an automated process.

We allow the $200 past-due during open registration because this is the maximum amount that will be covered by future-year aid. If a student does not have enough aid awarded, the past-due will become part of the amount the student needs to pay (or set up a payment plan) to avoid Enrollment Cancellation.

After Enrollment Cancellation, students must pay any past-due in full to register or add/drop courses.

Again, the above is general information to assist you with basic questions students may have concerning their UNM account and Bursar holds. Please direct students to our office for assistance with their individual account.

Thank you,

UNM Bursar's Office
