Less than 2 weeks until Finals! Questions about grade entry are common at this time of year and the most frequent answers are below (withdrawal grades, last attend dates, links to how-to documents) along with information on Summer 2012 and Fall 2012 registration. ** Grade Entry Methods ** - Grade Upload Menu: allows grade upload from a tab-delimited file. - WebCT Grade Export: allows grade push from your WebCT grade book. - Enter Final Grades: the regular LoboWeb method will remain available to you. ** Withdrawal Grade Special ** What is a WP anyway? - WP (Withdrawal - Passing) indicates that the student was passing the course at the time they dropped, or were dropped, from the course. - Either WF (Withdrawal - Failing) or WNC (Withdrawal - No Credit) will be paired with WP (depending on grade mode) which should be used if the student was not passing the course at the time of the drop. - WP does not impact GPA. - WNC does not impact GPA. - WF counts in GPA as an F. Remind students that they must drop, or be dropped, BEFORE Finals Week begins. Last date to drop: May, 4, 2012 with Dean's permission. What is a W? - W (Withdrawal) indicates that the student remained registered until grading opened. - This is generally used to indicate non-attendance in the course if not caught earlier. What is the difference between a W and a WP? - Very little. - WP indicates that a drop was processed, W indicates that the student was enrolled. - Neither impact GPA. What is the difference between an F and a WF? - Very little. - WF indicates that a drop was processed, F indicates that the student was enrolled. - Both impact GPA. All withdrawal grades can impact Financial Aid (academic progress) and require a Last Attend Date. More information on grading next week, and in FastInfo. ** TIPS AND TRICKS ** 1) What does "Drop - Perm Req" mean? - This code indicates a _successful_ drop after the student self-service deadline. - For Instructor initiated drops, this means the drop worked and should be treated like a "Drop with Grade" code. 2) Grading: - Will open at 5:00 p.m. on May 4, 2012 - Faculty grades are expected to be entered, using any of the available methods, within 48 hours after the final exam or last day of class per the Faculty Handbook (section D125). - For more information about grading see FastInfo 3525. 3) Registration: - Summer 2012 opens to all students today- April 23, 2012. . - Fall 2012 opens by appointment on April 23, 2012. 4) ** IMPORTANT ** Last Attend Date: - Grades of W, WP, WF, WNC, F, NC and I require submission of a Last Attend Date to process correctly. - A Last Attend Date could be: - Last actual day in class, if available (ideal). - Date of drop. - Date of last test/assignment submission. - Date of last contact with the student. - Last Attend Dates must be formatted as mm/dd/yyyy (ex: 03/08/2012), with leading zeros as applicable, to process correctly. - If you are using the new WebCT Export or Grade Upload process for your grades, the last attend dates will need to be entered via LoboWeb as the final step. - For more information about grading and Last Attend Date see FastInfo 3525. ** UPCOMING DEADLINES ** Last Day to Process Registration changes for Spring 2012: * May 4, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
